6 egg yolks
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup milk
1 1/4 cups heavy cream
1 cup mascarpone cheese
1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
24 ladyfinger cookies
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
Instructions
In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until creamy.
Heat the milk in a saucepan and slowly incorporate it into the egg mixture.
Transfer back to the saucepan, cook until thickened, then let it cool.
In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold in the mascarpone.
Combine the cooled egg mixture with the mascarpone mixture gently.
In another bowl, mix the coffee and liqueur.
Dip each ladyfinger in the coffee mixture quickly and layer them in a dish.
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and mascarpone.
Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Before serving, dust with cocoa powder.
Notes
