  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, and mix until combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for coating.
  7. Roll the dough into balls and then roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Place the dough balls on ungreased cookie sheets.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool on wire racks.

  • Make sure to soften the butter to room temperature before mixing.
